The Design Process

1. Initial Consultation:
We begin with a free 1 hour initial site consultation that includes a visit to the property and a meeting with our client.  We take photos and measurements of the areas to be worked or reworked, and then discuss with our clients their vision for the area.  We can then offer design suggestions for this area.

2. Site Inventory and Analysis

We have developed a detailed questionnaire which solicits information about soils, sun, wind, views, wildlife preferences, plant likes and dislikes, color palettes, and other property aspects.  The client completes each section with our assistance.

3. Preliminary Cost Estimate

This preliminary estimate will be based on labor, soil amendments, garden features, proposed plants, the detailed design, and garden installation along with irrigation and mulch.

4. Soil Preparation
Soil prep includes removing existing unwanted features (such as rocks or tree roots) as well as amending the soil.  This may include soil tests to identify any needed nutrients which will be worked into the soil.

5. Design Development
Once we have a completed inventory and analysis, we try to match the reality of the area with the client's wishes.  We will begin a plant list and a preliminary design.  Our clients will review this information, and based on their responses, we will refine the design.  We may return to the site if we have further questions.

6. Detailed Design
The detailed design will be the product of the preliminary design modified with feedback from the client.  This includes a detailed plant list of the recommended  plants to be used in the design.

7. Installation
Installation includes planting, irrigation systems if desired, mulching and installing garden features.
